Quiet Earth is reporting that the DVD for the lo-no budget horror flick Zombies Anonymous will be on DVD May 6 from Insane-O-Rama Productions.  You can check out that article over here.  The synopsis goes a little something like this: Read the rest of this entry »

There’s a new review for the post-apocalyptic zombie flick The Vanguard up over at Quiet Earth, and it appears to be all smiles and sunshine as far as this bad boy goes.  Check it out.  Also, the official site has a trailer that’s absolutely, for lack of a better term, bitching, so check that out as well over here.  The plot concerns a lone samurai-like man who wanders the woods of a post-apocalyptic world generally kicking ass and taking names, all while maintaining a bitching beard.

This is another one of those trailers that hit the Interwebs a good month ago, but are nonetheless relevant because I am a nerd.  In this case, my horror nerd and my theater nerd sides went fucking ballistic over the exclusive trailer from Shock Till You Drop for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Undead, the title of which is an obvious parody of the play Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, by Tom Stoppard.  If you’re a theater person, you’ve read this play and understand all of the Hamlet references within, and have probably seen the film version from 1990 starring Gary Oldman and Tim Roth, and you’ve probably laughed your ass off the entire time.

I have a puppet fetish when it comes to horror movies.  Not only are theyscary as a motherfucker (Poltergeist, Magic, Dead Silence), but in one instant they can take that scary-as-a-motherfucker-ness and turn it around to make you laugh your ass off, as scene in the trailer for the new film Triloquist, a film about family values, road trips, and shameless, puppet-filled murder.

I’m late a lot when it comes to movie news, but I like to think that at least I deliver, and that’s something.  In this case, I deliver the David Cronenberg-meets-Closer psychosexual horror flick Mindflesh.  This tasty little thriller is one of those films I cannot wait to see, which irks me because as it’s a British low budget film, it’s not only showing only in festivals, but in foreign festivals (and yes, I regard San Francisco as foreign, being from the South East).  Hopefully somebody will pick it up and give it a lovely little DVD with lovely little bonus features.  MindFlesh shows off some pretty endearing work in its creature designs, and being that I related it to one of my all-time favorite directors up above, you can bet your sweet ass that I’m looking forward to those.
